District U-46 announces new administrators

By Seth Hancock
School District U-46 announced its new administrators for the 2017-18 school year in a recent press release.
There were 16 announced including eight elementary school principals, five secondary principals and three new department or program heads. Of those, eight are new to the district.
Among the elementary school principals four are at locations within The Examiner’s coverage area: Noelle Dupuis at Bartlett’s Hawk Hollow, Maria Lopez at Hanover Park’s Laurel Hill, Sarah Rabe at Bartlett’s Centennial and Maria Valdovinos-Bhatia at Streamwood’s Sunnydale. Two of the secondary principals are in the coverage area including Michele Chapman-Simmons at Streamwood High School and Luis De León at Tefft Middle School in Streamwood.
New department or program heads include Laura Macias as director of information services, Deborah Perryman as coordinator of science K-12 and Jeffrey Prowell as director of transportation.
“We welcome our new school and district leaders as together we work toward achieving our goals on behalf of nearly 40,000 students,” U-46 CEO Tony Sanders said in the release. “We’re confident these 16 experienced professionals will continue to demonstrate their dedication and skills as they take on these key roles.”
Dupuis has degrees from Northern Illinois University and Roosevelt University in special education and teacher leadership respectively, and he comes to U-46 from D158 in Huntley where he was an assistant principal at the elementary level since 2013.
Lopez has two degrees from Aurora University in elementary education and educational leadership, and she comes to the district from D100 in Berwyn where, since 2013, she was an elementary assistant principal.
Rabe has degrees from Augustana College, Benedictine University and Concordia University in elementary education, reading and literacy and school leadership respectively. She comes to U-46 from Chicago Public Schools where she was an assistant principal at the elementary level since 2012.
Valdovinos-Bhatia has degrees in elementary education and teaching from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Aurora University, and she has been an assistant principal at three elementary schools in U-46.
De León has a degree in agricultural engineering from Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro in Mexico as well as a Type 75 leadership certification and a degree in teaching from Aurora University. For the past four years he was the principal at Laurel Hill Elementary School.
Chapman-Simmons has a biology degree from Albion College and a degree in education from Northern Illinois University. She was an assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at D203 in Naperville since 2014, and she previously taught at Streamwood High School 17 years ago.
Macias and Perryman have both been with U-46 while Prowell comes to the district from Humble Independent School District in Texas where he was director of transportation.
