Mug Shot Mania NewsHeroin Seizure
On 11/11/15 at approximately 1:00pm a Kane County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a 2007 Chevrolet Impala that was traveling westbound on I90 near Rt. 47 in unincorporated Hampshire Township for an equipment violation. During the stop a narcotic detection K9 was deployed around the exterior of the vehicle. The K9 indicated a potential presence of narcotics inside of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following items:
- 400 grams of heroin with a street value of approximately $80,000
- A .45 caliber handgun
- A 9mm caliber handgun
- $9000 in US currency
The following subjects were in the car at the time of the traffic stop:
- Driver-Jessica Johnson 29 year old female of the 19000 block of HWY 1 in Redby Minnesota
- Passenger-Leo Cook 31 year old male of the 19000 block of HWY 1 in Redby Minnesota
- Passenger-Derek Paddy 19 year old male of the 900 block of Circle Pines Rd Red Lake Minnesota
All three subjects were transported to the Kane County Adult Justice Center. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against all three individuals:
- unlawful manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance a class X felony
- unlawful possession of a controlled substance a class 1 felony
- armed violence a class X felony
All three subjects bond was set at $800,000. The charges against Johnson, Cook and Paddy are not proof of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the State’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
