West Chicago Man Sentenced to 24 Years For Sexually Assaulting Two Minor Girls
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that Judge Robert Kleeman has sentenced Darinel Velazquez-Roblero, 28 (d.o.b. 7/03/1987) of West Chicago, to 24 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for sexually abusing two minor females. On April 17, 2015, after approximately four hours of deliberations, a DuPage County jury found Velazquez-Roblero guilty of two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class X Felony and three counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony.
Today’s sentencing stems from allegations that beginning in January, 2012, through July 2013, Velazquez-Roblero sexually abused his victims on multiple occasions. The sexual abuse came to light when one of the victims alerted a trusted adult family member. That family member contacted the West Chicago Police Department who in turn contacted the DuPage County Children’s Center. Velazquez-Roblero has remained in custody since his arrest on a $750,000 bond.
“Darinel Velazquez-Roblero is a dangerous sexual predator who has certainly earned his prison sentence,” Berlin said. “It is my sincerest hope that these two young girls fully recover from the emotional and physical harm Mr. Velazquez-Roblero has inflicted upon them. I would like to thank the DuPage County Children’s Advocacy Center, particularly investigator Carmen Easton and Case Manager Stephanie Mogensen as well as Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Lindt and former Assistant State’s Attorney Debora Brewer for not only their outstanding efforts in this extremely disturbing case.”
