Winfield Man, Formerly Of Geneva, Pleads Guilty To Sexually Assaulting Child

November 13, 2015

A Winfield man who once lived in Geneva is headed to prison after he pleaded guilty for sexually assaulting a child he knew.

Timothy J. Dolan, 51 (d.o.b. 1-30-1964), of Windermere Road, Winfield, Ill.,
and formerly of Geneva, on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, agreed to a sentence of
4½ years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea
to criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse,
a Class 2 felony.

Circuit Judge John A. Barsanti accepted the plea.

Between August 1998 and August 2005 Dolan sexually assaulted and sexually abused the victim, whom he knew. The victim was younger than 18 years old at the time. The unlawful sex acts took place at a residence in Geneva.

After the prison term Dolan must follow all conditions of specialized sex offender probation for 30 months. These conditions require Dolan to not have any contact with the victim, not possess any sexually explicit material, not use Websites that contain sexually explicit material, and not intentionally loiter near places frequented by minors.

In addition, Dolan must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

According to Illinois law, Dolan must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He was given credit for at least 499 days served in the Kane County jail.

The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Greg Sams.
