ELGIN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SEX ASSAULT OF CHILD

An Elgin man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting a child he knew.

Pedro Valle-Trujillo, 21 (d.o.b. 4-15-1994), of the 1600 block of Mulberry Avenue, Elgin, agreed Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, to a sentence of 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony.

Circuit Judge James C. Hallock accepted the plea.

Prosecutors presented evidence that between 2012 and 2014, Valle-Trujillo sexually assaulted the victim, whom he knew. The victim was younger than 13 at the time of the assaults. The assaults took place at a residence in Elgin.

In addition to the prison term, Valle-Trujillo must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

According to Illinois law, Valle-Trujillo must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He was given credit for at least 385 days served in the Kane County jail.

The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Andrew Whitfield and Reagan Pittman, who are assigned to the Child Advocacy Center.
