Sheriff John Zaruba announced the arrest of a Burbank man and a Palatine woman after stealing a vehicle out of Palatine.
Nicholas Stafford (dob/11/18/90) of the 7900 block of Nagle Ave., Burbank has been charged with 1 count of Aggravated Fleeing/Eluding which is class 1 felony, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle which is a class 2 felony, Residential Burglary which is a class 2 felony and Possession of a Stolen License Plate which is a class 4 felony. Sylwia Kopacz (dob/08/1/87) of the 1000 block of Inverrary Lane, Palatine has been charged with Criminal Trespass to Vehicle and Resisting a Police Officer.
On January 16th, the Sheriff’s Office Tactical Narcotic Team (TNT 22) was in the area of Four Lakes in unincorporated Lisle when they noticed a vehicle that was reported stolen a few days earlier. The detectives attempted to make a traffic stop, crashed the vehicle and then fled on foot. TNT 22 detectives were able to identify the suspects.
Approximately 12 hours later, Sheriff’s Deputies located Nicholas Stafford burglarizing a residency in the area of Riverview Rd. in unincorporated Lisle. Sheriff’s deputies arrested Stafford who was charged with the residential burglary. Later that evening Kopacz was taken into custody and was also charged.
Stafford and Kopacz are being held in the DuPage County Jail. Stafford’s bond has been set at $230,000 and Kopacz’s bond has been set at $20,000.
