The Examiner U-46 News FeedU-46 Board approves varied expenses, bills list By Seth Hancock
The Board of Education in School District U-46 unanimously approved of $5.2 million in expenditure items at its meeting on Monday, May 3.
The vote was from the previous board as the new board from this year’s April 6 election was seated later that meeting.
Included was a $4.4 million (an estimated cost) proposal, to come from the transportation fund, with Mansfield Oil Company for 1.7 million gallons of diesel fuel and 135,000 gallons of unleaded gasoline.
“The current fuel contract for both gasoline and diesel fuels will be expiring June 30, 2021,” the proposal states. “This fuel is needed to operate the school district vehicles over the next three-year period.”
The board approved $481,523 (operations and maintenance fund) split between Currie Motors ($221,200), Bonnell Industries ($162,925) and Sutton Ford ($97,398) for vehicle replacements. The proposal states that 10 years is the average life expectancy for a vehicle fleet.
The proposal states: “There are seven vehicles being recommended for replacement for Fiscal Year 2021. This includes four pickup trucks, two vans, and one dump truck. All the vehicles being recommended for replacement are between 14 and 25 years old and are beyond their recommended life cycle. One additional dump truck is being recommended for purchase, which will aid the grounds team in salting the district more efficiently during snow events.”
A five-year contract with Kronos SaaShr, Inc. was approved costing $330,000 (education fund) for annual support and licensing for the district’s payroll time clocks.
Also approved unanimously at the meeting was $5.2 million in itemized bills.
