The Examiner U-46 News FeedExpenditure items slated for Dist. U-46 board vote By Seth Hancock
The Board of Education in School District U-46 is set to vote on $1.1 million in expenditure items at its upcoming meeting on Monday, June 7. The items were presented on May 17.
The largest item costs $629,763, from the operations and maintenance fund if approved, split between GameTime c/o Cunningham Recreation ($500,268) and Team Reil, Inc. ($129,495) for playground replacements at nine schools, each project costing in a range of $50,100 to $113,349.
Traditionally, parent organizations took responsibility to raise funds for their individual school regarding playgrounds, but the proposal states: “Due to COVID-19, many of the funds that are typically allocated to the operation of fully occupied schools have gone unused. Thus, Plant Operations staff were presented with a unique opportunity to complete additional projects.”
The district is asking for $144,503 (education fund) for a contract renewal with CDW-G for Microsoft Office Suite and $83,756 (education fund) with Mindsight for a contract renewal for the district’s phone system.
A contract costing $75,750 (education fund) was presented to allow 51 students to take part in School District 301’s veterinary assistant program.
The district is asking for $66,815 with Mindsight and $49,545 with Lenovo, both education fund, for Fortinet Endpoint Security Management software and for 30 creative content laptops for the BEACON Academy respectively.
From the transportation fund, the district is asking for $53,783 with Safety-Kleen for oil and maintenance fluids.
The district is seeking to use Veterans Floor, Inc. for a gym floor refinishing at Streamwood’s Canton Middle School costing $28,980 (operations and maintenance fund).
