The Examiner U-46 News FeedSuperintendent goal tied to U-46’s strategic plan By Seth Hancock
As recently reported, the Board of Education in School District U-46 approved of goals for Superintendent Suzanne Johnson on Dec. 11, 2023.
The nine-page document includes five goals, most including performance goals for Johnson, how the goal aligns with the district’s mission, how the goals are measured, primary action needed and a timeline.
This week, The Examiner will review the fifth and final goal which states: “The Superintendent and the U-46 Board of Education, will begin working to review the current Strategic Plan to determine the potential to review or draft a new strategic plan to guide U-46 work for the next five years.”
On Johnson’s performance goal, the document states: “Research and provide options for potential third-party facilitation to revise or draft a five year equity driven Strategic Plan. Indicators will include: Meeting facilitation and participation; Focus group facilitations and participation; and, Communication and updates to stakeholders.”
Unlike the first four goals, the final goal did not provide a timeline, the goal’s alignment to the district’s mission, how it will be measured or primary actions.
The district’s current strategic plan was approved in 2015 and updated in 2022.
“In 2015, the Board of Education approved the U-46 Strategic Plan, including four pillars of focus: Student Achievement, Effective and Engaged Staff, Community Engagement, and Excellence, Efficiency, and Accountability,” the district’s website states. “Over the past several years, the District has organized its major initiatives under these pillars and established other working teams like the Equity Committee aligned to the same four pillars.”
The website added: “In July 2022, the U-46 administrative team held a work session with the Board of Education to reaffirm its commitment to the strategic plan and make any necessary adjustments - particularly in the area of metrics to track our progress. The updates from this session were finalized and presented to the Board on September 26, 2022.”
