Mug Shot Mania NewsBond Set at $100,000 for Downers Grove Man Accused of Possessing/Distributing Child Pornography
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that bond has been set at $100,000 with 10% to apply for a Downers Grove man charged with possession and distribution of child pornography. Anthony Damaska, 28 (d.o.b. 2/3/1988) of 632 Sherman Street, Downers Grove, appeared in Bond Court this morning where he was charged with two counts of Dissemination of Child Pornography, a Class X Felony and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 2 Felony.
In August, 2015, as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession and dissemination of child pornography, authorities with the Naperville Police Department located an IP address originating from the Downers Grove area allegedly containing a high volume of possible child pornography downloads. Through the course of the investigation, detectives were led to Damaska where, after executing a search warrant at Damaska’s home, it was discovered that he allegedly possessed thousands of images containing child pornography. On February 2, Damaska was taken into custody from his home by the Downers Grove Police Department.
“Child pornography is not a victimless crime,” Berlin said. “Every image and every video allegedly possessed by Mr. Damaska represents yet another innocent victim of child pornography. The filing of today’s charges against Mr. Damaska sends the message that my office stands ready and will not hesitate to vigorously prosecute any allegations of child pornography. I would like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Sean Kelly for his work on this case as well as the Naperville and Downers Grove Police Departments for their ongoing efforts to protect our children from child pornographers.”
Damaska’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 29, 2016, in front of Judge John Kinsella. Additional conditions for Damaska should he be able to post bond include no contact with children under 18 years of age and no computer or Internet access.
